We are currently busy installing brand-new exhibitions at Nikolaj Kunsthal. For this reason, we will be closed from Monday 27 July until Wednesday 26 August, when we invite you to a joint opening of three new exhibitions from 16:00. Read more about the opening under Events on this page. 

When we reopen, you can look forward to experiencing the following three exhibitions: 

High-Energy Particles from Outer Space 
Together with artist and composer Christian Skjødt Hasselstrøm, Nikolaj Kunsthal’s Lower Gallery is transformed into a cosmic listening station. The exhibition “Meridians”, unfolding at the intersection of sound, visual art and natural science, creates a sensory space in which the invisible becomes physically present, placing humanity’s constant connection to the universe into perspective. 

Explosive Colours and Monumental Canvases 
Welcome to Maria Wæhrens’ dream world. Step into the exhibition “The Answer” where paintings do not simply hang neatly on the walls, but rise freely into the air around you. Experience enormous paintings that function as fabric walls you can move around, while the artist has also painted directly onto the raw brickwork using the classical egg tempera technique. In the Upper Gallery, the space is given over to an uncompromising total experience in expressive painting – one large spatial composition that interacts directly with the architecture of the exhibition venue. 

Between Transcendence and Seduction 
Last but not least, visual artist Johan Bech Jespersen takes over the project space Platform in collaboration with the artist and music collective Rewild. The Platform exhibition space was realised with support from Det Obelske Familiefond and hosts six annual exhibitions focusing on collaborations between emerging artists and curators.
