We are currently putting the final touches in place ahead of the opening of two exhibitions that mark the kickoff of this year’s exhibition season. Look forward to experiencing the following:

  • Københavnerstykker II (Lower and Upper Gallery)
"Københavnerstykker II" briefly freezes time, offering visitors to Nikolaj Kunsthal a unique opportunity to experience a kaleidoscopic snapshot of contemporary art — right here, right now. The exhibition brings together more than 230 works by nearly 150 artists, all acquired by the The Council For Visual Art for the City of Copenhagen between 2022 and 2025.

  • Rest and Routine – Duet for Sanatorium and Modern Hospital (Platform)
How does the architecture of healthcare shape our understanding of healing? And what does it mean for those who live and receive treatment within these spaces? These questions form the core of "Rest and Routine – Duet for Sanatorium and Modern Hospital", an exhibition by visual artist and electronic composer Cecilie Penney, created in collaboration with architect and curator Lawrence Ebelle.

To mark the opening on Thursday 5 February, 16-18, we invite you to enjoy music by DJ Josefine Winding, a performance by Lotte Sigh, free beer from Depanneur (fist come, forst served), and speeches by Mayor for Culture, Leisure and Citizen Services Christopher Røhl and Aukje Lepoutre Ravn, newly appointed Artistic Director of Nikolaj Kunsthal.

Everyone is welcome. Admission is free.

We also invite you to explore our public event programme, which unfolds in connection with the exhibitions from 6 February to 6 April.
