Art on Parental Leave (Kunst på Barsel)
Slow down with your baby in your arms as Nikolaj Kunsthal, in collaboration with Kunst på Barsel, invites the very youngest (ages 0–2) and their parents to an exclusive guided tour of the current exhibitions.
The tour begins at 10:00 AM, giving participants the entire art hall to themselves before it opens to the public at 11:00. There’s plenty of room for prams, bottles, and diaper changes – and a café where you can buy coffee, tea, and cookies.
Open House: On Top of the World!
Join us for a trip up the historic Nikolaj Tower and enjoy a panoramic view of Copenhagen from 35 metres above the ground. From here, you’ll have a clear view of many of the city’s architectural landmarks – from the Marble Church, inaugurated in 1894, to Bjarke Ingels' CopenHill, from the 16-kilometre-long Øresund Bridge to Denmark’s first high-rise buildings: the Bellahøj Towers.
Multiple tours will take place on both days, starting at 11:30 AM. Admission is free, but capacity is limited. Registration is required.
Music Bingo – In the Name of Love
In collaboration with The Copenhagen Cultural District Nikolaj Kunsthal invites you to music bingo hosted by Bustymams and DJ Rallepeños. The bingo duo, who usually run their games at Flere Fugle, will, as part of the Golden Days Festival theme ‘Love’, explore powerful emotions such as joy, sorrow, helplessness, and the triumphant feeling of butterflies in the stomach.
Guided tours of the current group exhibition "Copenhagen–Berlin: Gateway to the World" will also be available. Depanneur has stocked the taps with cold, organic beer #bajeur
Copenhagen Architecture Biennial 2025
Join us as the Copenhagen Architecture Biennale launches simultaneously across a wide range of art and cultural institutions – not least at Nikolaj Kunsthal!
Enjoy a laid-back pop-up slow-down bar outside on Nikolaj Plads, happy hour, and free admission to Nikolaj Kunsthal’s current exhibitions. The exhibitions unfold within the unique historical and architectural setting in the heart of central Copenhagen, where past and present meet.

Meet the Architect: Morten Emil Engel
Meet the architect behind the extensive renovation of Nikolaj Kunsthal’s foyer, shop, and café, completed in 2022.
In an informal Q&A format, Morten Emil Engel – who has previously worked with firms such as COBE – will share insights into the process of transforming the historic church interior into a modern experience space, while maintaining respectful for its historical context.
The renovation has been praised by international architecture and design media including Dezeen, Design Anthology UK, Yellowtrace, and The Spaces.
