Here at Nikolaj Kunsthal, we are fully engaged in preparing brand-new exhibitions. Therefore, we will be closed from Monday 28 July through Wednesday 27 August, when we invite you to a synchronised opening of three new exhibitions between 16:00 and 20:00. Read more about the opening party under Events on our website.

When we reopen, you can look forward to the following three exhibitions:

  • At the Lower Gallery, we welcome the group exhibition "Copenhagen–Berlin: Gateway to the World", which zooms in on the fruitful era in Berlin following the fall of the Wall. In the ensuing decades, the city opened up as an attractive and far-reaching experimental ground for creative practitioners as well as new artistic movements and expressions. The exhibition focuses on a selection of visual artists from Copenhagen who were drawn to Berlin’s transformation in the wake of the East-West fusion. Featuring contributions by Alexander Tillegreen, Cassie Augusta Jørgensen, Deniz Eroglu, Dina El Kaisy Friemuth, Gitte Villesen, Lise Harlev, Tommy Støckel, Ulrik Møller, and Vinyl-terror & -horror.

  • At the same time, at the Upper Gallery, we open a solo exhibition with new works by Evren Tekinoktay. "BOOGIE" is an exhibition driven by intuition—both as a method and as a mood that can resonate with the viewer. With a practice that extends beyond traditional art forms, Evren Tekinoktay moves freely between visual art, design, perfume and lingerie. Her interdisciplinary work weaves narratives together and invites the audience into a layered universe, partly rooted in her Danish-Turkish heritage. Experience a poetic and sensual world created by glowing neon works, knotted rugs and intricate collages.

  • Last but not least, experience visual artist Sofie Winther x curator collective SOS take over the project space Platform, which, supported by Det Obelske Familiefond, hosts six annual exhibitions focused on collaborations between emerging artists and curators.

See you at Nikolaj Kunsthal on 27 August!
