Last Call
This weekend is your final chance to see – or revisit – the exhibitions "Københavnerstykker II" (Lower and Upper Gallery) and "Rest and Routine – Duet for Sanatorium and Modern Hospital" (Platform).
A shortcut to contemporary art
"Københavnerstykker II" offers a direct entry point into contemporary art. Bringing together 230 works by nearly 150 artists, acquired by the City of Copenhagen between 2022 and 2025, the exhibition presents a striking snapshot of current artistic practices.
The works are part of a growing municipal art collection, acquired through the Council for Visual Arts, and usually distributed across the city’s institutions – from libraries and schools to job centres, housing facilities and municipal offices – where art becomes part of everyday life for both staff and visitors.
The architecture of care
"Rest and Routine – Duet for Sanatorium and Modern Hospital" explores how the architecture of healthcare shapes our understanding of care, healing and human presence. Visual artist and composer Cecilie Penney turns her attention to the structures of the healthcare system, examining the emotional experience of becoming a patient within a system whose language is often out of sync with the needs of the body. A system in which care is filtered through procedures, waiting times and bureaucratic rhythms that can overshadow human connection. The exhibition is developed in collaboration with architect and curator Lawrence Ebelle.
Due to Easter both exhibitions remain on view until Monday 6 April.
Opening hours:
Friday 3 April, 11:00–18:00
Saturday 4 April – Monday 6 April, 11:00–17:00
Please note that throughout Easter we also offer guided tours of Nikolaj Tower, with panoramic views of Copenhagen from 35 metres above the city. Separate ticket required. Find out more about Easter at Nikolaj Tower.
