We look forward to welcoming you on Friday 24 April, 16:00–20:00, as we open two new exhibitions at Nikolaj Kunsthal:

Alison Knowles: Retrospective 1960–2022 (Lower and Upper Gallery)
Fluxus is part of Nikolaj Kunsthal’s DNA. In the early 1960s, this was where the movement took shape in Denmark. Now, one of its most groundbreaking figures returns: Alison Knowles. This major retrospective sheds light on the recently deceased pioneer and her radical practice. The exhibition also reactivates a number of her key performances and happenings – in the very spaces where the story began.

Jeg ønskede aldrig at såre nogen (Platform)
In this new exhibition, artist Noah Holtegaard explores the scapegoat as both symbol and historical mechanism. Drawing on the Old Testament narrative – in which a goat is burdened with human sins and sacrificed for the sake of the community – the exhibition examines how the figure of the scapegoat recurs throughout history and continues to shape the present. Curated by Sarah Pihl.

Isa Ryong will be behind the decks, and Depanneur will provide organic pilsner. First come, first served!

The opening programme also features re-enactments of Alison Knowles’ works "Piece for Any Number of Vocalists" (1962) and "Make a Soup" (1962), led by Amalie og Floras Middage. You can also take part in the participatory work "Celebration Red" (1962), where guests are invited to bring a red object.

See you at Nikolaj Kunsthal!
