Closed for new exhibitions until 29 August
Here at Nikolaj Kunsthal, we are now busy preparing brand new exhibitions. Therefore, we will be closed in the period from Tuesday 30 July to Thursday 29 August, both inclusive. On the 29 August, we invite you to the opening from 16:00 - check Events on this page.
When we reopen, you can look forward to experiencing the following three exhibitions:
At the Lower Gallery, we welcome the group exhibition I'm Sorry, This Space Is Reserved, focusing on the incapable body. The exhibition is a kick-start in the debate about the normative vs. the non-normative in a society that is organised according to majority needs and with a limited focus on accessibility and acceptance of people and bodies that are different. Among the participating artists are Joseph Grigely (US), Estela Lapponi (BR), Kristina Steinbock (DK), Luna Scales (DK), Emilie L. Gossiaux (US), Maiken Bent (DK) and Robert Andy Coombs (US).
At the same time, we will open an exhibition at the Upper Gallery with new works by visual artist Kathrine Ærtebjerg. Look forward to experiencing Ærtebjerg's sensual and colourful reflections on identity, gender and existence. In connection with the upcoming solo exhibition, she will be joined by the late artist Ovartaci, who in a very concrete sense enters Ærtebjerg's world; a number of Ovartaci's works are installed side by side with new surrealist works by Ærtebjerg in the exhibition A Cloud Is a Girl Is a Boy Is a Cat.
Last but not least, you can see artist Emilie Imàn and curator Anouska Kobus occupy the exhibition space Platform which, with support from the Obel Family Foundation, forms the framework for six annual exhibitions with a focus on collaborations between young artists and curators.
Make sure to make a note in your calendar: we will open all three exhibitions on Thursday 29 August at 16:00.
See you again at Nikolaj Kunsthal!
