Platform - Ville Laurinkoski x Fafaya Mogensen
The first Platform exhibition of the year is presented by Ville Laurinkoski, who in 'Le Gay Voyage' explores seemingly distinct components of a single unified composition. Themes such as liberation, mobility, and the aesthetics of production are evident throughout the exhibition, which turns the workings of capitalism’s production inside out, revealing both spatial and affective traces of the past. The exhibition, curated by Fafaya Mogensen, will be on view at Nikolaj Kunsthal from 8 February to 23 March.
The opening party will take place on Friday, 7th February, from 4-7 pm. Read more about the opening right here
About Ville Laurinkoski
Ville Laurinkoski (b. 1996) is an artist and performer based in Copenhagen. Laurinkoski works with suggestive interiors and chamber pieces comprising mass-produced objects and misfit materials imbued with sound and voice, either live or recorded. These works are accompanied by worn-out gay literature, commercial music, various genres of autobiographical writing, timetables, regulations, procedures, stained mattresses, and partitions. These (un)consumable objects and spaces carry traces of the divisions that constituted them (such as labor, sexuality, and class), while simultaneously evoking consolation and bliss.
Laurinkoski holds an MA from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Visual Arts, and completed the Maumaus Independent Study Programme in Lisbon in 2021. Laurinkoski has exhibited at the Finnish Museum of Architecture and Design (2024), Galleri Elverket, Pro Artibus (2024), Kunsthal Charlottenborg (2023), and Amos Rex Museum (2022). He has performed at O—Overgaden (2024), Art Hub Copenhagen (2024), and Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art (2024, 2023), among others. He is part of the artist collective Jennifee-See Alternate.
