The new exhibition season has officially begun

From today, visitors to Nikolaj Kunsthal can explore three brand-new exhibitions – spread throughout the entire building. Admission is free every Wednesday.

From today, the doors open to our autumn exhibition programme, which, among other things, invites you into the spaces of childhood and the structures that shape it, takes you on a journey to the artists’ Berlin, and celebrates intuition and sensuality – with a nod to the symbols and meanings found in the decoration of the old church’s ceiling:

Play Pen Prodigy by Sofie Winther x SOS Megazine
The exhibition "Play Pen Prodigy" – part of our project space Platform – explores the spaces of childhood and the structures that shape children physically, mentally, and culturally. Taking playpens and playhouses as its starting point, visual artist Sofie Winther focuses on how norms and values are internalised through upbringing and play. The exhibition is curated by the magazine SOS Megazine.

Copenhagen-Berlin: Gateway to the World
The group exhibition "Copenhagen-Berlin: Gateway to the World" shines a spotlight on the connection between the two capital cities. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, Berlin emerged as an experimental hub for new artistic movements and expressions – attracting artists from around the world, including many from Copenhagen. Berlin’s raw and urban identity – especially in the former East – meant affordable studios and housing in one of Europe’s key hubs, while the city’s international profile helped unlock a fertile potential for art practitioners with a global outlook.

The exhibition features artworks by nine Danish artists and artist groups, all of whom at some point between the early 1990s and today have lived and continued working as artists in Berlin. Experience contributions from Alexander Tillegreen, Cassie Augusta Jørgensen, Deniz Eroglu, Dina El Kaisy Friemuth, Gitte Villesen, Lise Harlev, Tommy Støckel, Ulrik Møller, and Vinyl-terror & -horror.

BOOGIE by Evren Tekinoktay
In the Upper Gallery, you can experience "BOOGIE", an exhibition driven by intuition – both as a method and as a mood that lingers with the viewer. With a practice that transcends traditional art forms, Evren Tekinoktay has moved fluidly throughout her career between visual art, design, perfume, and lingerie. Her cross-disciplinary work weaves stories together and invites the viewer into a layered universe. Her creative journeys are driven by curious inquiry and a strong creative urge. All her activities testify to an artist who insists on expanding the realm of art and bringing it into the intimate and sensual domains of everyday life.

Welcome to everyone visiting Nikolaj Kunsthal for the first time, and to all those who drop by regularly!
