Learn more about the three different tours below:

7 May – 16:30-17:30
Guided tour introduced by Solitude Studios
Jonas Sayed Gammal Bruun and Sophia Martinussen, behind the Copenhagen-based textile design company Solitude Studios, work with clothing as their primary medium. They are fascinated by the way humans interact with nature – and how nature responds. Quite similar to Lars Von Trier! Solitude Studios’ contribution to the "Breaking Darkness" exhibition includes moss-like vines winding up columns and the floor (“Melancholia”), as well as large textiles that, projected through flickering film loops, hang in flowing cascades from the ceiling (“Europa”).

Please note that the tour will primarily be conducted in Danish. However, English translation will be provided if necessary.

21 May, 16:30-17:30
Guided tour introduced by Helene Nyborg Bay, Artistic Director
Meet Helene Nyborg Bay, the artistic director of Nikolaj Kunsthal and the curator behind the exhibition "Breaking Darkness." This tour offers insight into some of the ideas behind the exhibition, with Helene Nyborg Bay sharing stories about the exhibition's site-specific approach and Lars Von Trier’s visual language as artistic works.

Please note that the tour will be conducted in Danish.

17 June, 16:30-17:30
Guided tour introducted by Jens-Otto Paludan, collaborator with Lars von Trier and owner of Freeze Frame Gallery
Since 2020, Jens-Otto Paludan has specialised in curating and producing unique stills from Lars von Trier’s impressive and visually captivating film catalog. Several of these photographic works are featured in “Breaking Darkness” and have previously been shown at Galerie Perrotin in Paris, among other venues. This event is part of the Copenhagen Photo Festival, taking place in Copenhagen 12-22 June.

Please note that the tour will primarily be conducted in Danish. However, English translation will be provided if necessary.
