Art on Parental Leave (Kunst på Barsel) * Københavnerstykker II

A shortcut to Contemporary Art: In collaboration with Kunst på Barsel, we welcome parents and their very young children to the exhibition “Københavnerstykker II”. There is plenty of space for prams, feeding bottles and diaper changes

On Thursday, 19 February, we invite parents with children aged 0–2 to a special guided tour of “Københavnerstykker II”. The exhibition presents an extensive collection of artworks acquired between 2022 and 2025 by the Council for Visual Art on behalf of the City of Copenhagen.

A shortcut to Contemporary Art
More than 230 works by nearly 150 different artists are shown side by side at Nikolaj Kunsthal. The artworks are part of a growing public art collection that is usually displayed across the city’s municipal institutions and workplaces — including libraries, treatment centres, job centres, schools and mayoral offices — bringing art into everyday spaces for staff, users and citizens alike.

The guided tour begins at 10:00, giving participants and their children exclusive access to the Kunsthal until 11:00. There is ample room for prams and baby care, as well as access to the café, where coffee, tea and cookies are available at favourable prices.

The tour is led by Malou Solfjeld — mother, art historian and the founder of Kunst på Barsel. For several years, Kunst på Barsel has attracted full houses with guided tours at museums and art institutions, specially tailored to parents on parental leave.

Ticket sales will open soon. Keep an eye on Nikolaj’s website and social media channels — and on kunstpaabarsel.com
